A malformação arteriovenosa cerebral (MAV) é uma condição rara e potencialmente grave, caracterizada por uma comunicação anormal entre artérias e veias no cérebro. Esta anomalia vascular apresenta alto risco de hemorragia, o que pode levar a morbidade e mortalidade significativas em adultos jovens. Como o diagnóstico e tratamento das MAVs ainda representam desafios clínicos, um dos principais dilemas atualmente é entender como as MAVs se desenvolvem. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse artigo é demonstrar se o acúmulo de metais pesados pode ser um possível fator de risco ambiental para o surgimento das MAVs.
