A ELETROCONVULSOTERAPIA NO TRATAMENTO DA IDEAÇÃO SUICIDA

Objetivos: Este trabalho oferece uma análise detalhada das vantagens e desvantagens da ECT, seus fundamentos teóricos e práticos, mecanismos de ação, ética e segurança da prática, diretrizes clínicas e prática baseada em evidências. Resultados: Evidências sugerem que os benefícios da ECT podem estender-se até 12 meses após o tratamento, estabilizando o humor e reduzindo a recorrência de ideação suicida. No entanto, a necessidade de mais pesquisas sobre os efeitos a longo prazo e os potenciais efeitos adversos foi enfatizada. Esses efeitos adversos, anteriormente uma grande preocupação associada à ECT, foram significativamente mitigados através do uso de protocolos modernos que incluem anestésicos e relaxantes musculares, ajustes precisos na dosagem de energia, e controle cuidadoso do posicionamento dos eletrodos. Conclusão: A eletroconvulsoterapia (ECT) é uma intervenção terapêutica que demonstrou eficácia no tratamento da ideação suicida, especialmente em casos refratários a outras abordagens.
