Abstract

Considering the growing urgency of a sustainable energy transition in light of climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as Brazil’s significant potential for renewable energy sources, the problem identified is the regional dependence on fossil fuels and the limited adoption of clean mobility solutions in the Amazon context. The objective is to analyze the role of electric vehicles as a public policy instrument for energy transition in the Amazon, with emphasis on environmental preservation and sustainable development. To this end, an exploratory qualitative study was conducted based on a literature review of national and international research addressing charging infrastructure, fiscal incentives, and regional logistical and socioeconomic challenges. Thus, it is observed that electromobility presents relevant potential to reduce emissions, stimulate technological innovation, and strengthen sustainability strategies, although it depends on structural investments and integrated public policies. This allows the conclusion that the implementation of policies aimed at electric mobility, combined with infrastructure expansion and economic incentive mechanisms, constitutes a viable alternative to foster energy transition in the Amazon while reconciling environmental conservation and sustainable regional development.
