ATYPICAL MOTHERS AND THEIR DAILY DEMANDS

This study analyzes the challenges of atypical motherhood, understood as the experience of mothers of children with neurodevelopmental variations, such as ASD and ADHD. The objective was to examine the daily demands and psychosocial impacts of this journey. A qualitative and bibliographic methodology was used, featuring a thematic analysis of ten articles selected from the PePsic, SciELO, and APA PsycInfo databases (2021–2024). The results reveal persistent emotional overload and high levels of parental stress, stemming from intensive care routines and the scarcity of support networks. The literature indicates that these mothers frequently face social isolation and the renunciation of personal projects, requiring a constant reconfiguration of their identity. The study concludes that the lack of effective public policies and specialized institutional support exacerbates the mental vulnerability of these women. The research highlights the urgent need for humanized interventions and intersectoral support networks that relieve the maternal figure, promoting her well-being and the social inclusion of the family.
