DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN BRAZIL: STRUCTURAL CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES ON ADDRESSING IT

Abstract

This reflection aims to briefly analyze, from an interdisciplinary perspective based on relevant literature and official data, how the panorama of domestic and family violence against women in Brazil constitutes a structural and persistent phenomenon. This article seeks to examine consolidated scientific production alongside recent statistics published in the 19th Brazilian Public Security Yearbook by the Brazilian Forum on Public Security (FBSP, 2025). To this end, documentary analysis of official reports was employed. In this context, it is observed that the challenges in confronting this type of violence remain significant, despite normative and institutional advances, as statistics continue to reveal high rates of domestic and family violence against women, requiring the formulation and implementation of increasingly integrated and continuous public policies. The article also presents the research and extension program of UFES: Fordan, which, for presenting important data on zero femicide and homicide of women supported by the program, is an inspiration for public policies.
