This article investigates the fundamental role of critical consciousness within the cognitive dimension of Defense and examines the potential and challenges of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into this field. The study is situated within 21st-century transformations, characterized by hybrid warfare and intense informational disputes. The adopted premise establishes that AI is not merely a technical tool, but a structural agent. Thus, critical consciousness emerges as a vital strategic competence for sovereignty and resilient defense policies. The qualitative approach utilizes an interdisciplinary theoretical review that links Critical Theory with studies of AI in a military context. The results indicate that technology enhances strategic analysis, although it introduces risks of algorithmic bias and dependency. The study concludes that the ethical integration of AI into formative processes is essential to reinforce national autonomy within contemporary Defense policies.
