CIRCULAR ECONOMY: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR BRAZILIAN COMPANIES

The circular economy has established itself as a strategic paradigm for addressing the environmental and economic limitations of the linear production and consumption model, still prevalent in Brazil and worldwide. This article analyzes the conceptual foundations of circularity, highlighting its differences from the linear model, and examines the national and international regulatory frameworks that structure its implementation. The research was conducted through a literature and documentary review, analysis of secondary data from institutions such as the IBGE and CNI, and the application of content analysis, allowing us to identify convergences and gaps between theory and practice. The results indicate that, although the country has relevant legal instruments—such as the National Solid Waste Policy (Law No. 12,305/2010), Decree No. 10,936/2022, and the National Circular Economy Strategy (Decree No. 12,082/2024)—business incorporation is still limited to specific waste management and energy efficiency practices, lacking structural transformations in business models. On the other hand, the international situation, associated with COP30, creates strategic opportunities for competitiveness, innovation, and the attraction of green investments. It is concluded that the consolidation of the circular economy in Brazil will depend on the integration of public policies, business innovation, and socio-productive inclusion.
