Abstract

This article analyzes the traditional knowledge of riverside women involved in shrimp fishing in Paraná do Supiá, in Manacapuru/AM, It sought to identify the practices, techniques, and knowledge used by women in collecting and processing shrimp to understand how this knowledge is transmitted between generations and incorporated into daily riverside life. It also investigates the role of this knowledge in the sustainability of artisanal fishing and the domestic economy, seeking to discuss female territoriality expressed in fishing practices and the occupation of riverside spaces. It highlights its importance for the organization of work, environmental sustainability, and the production of female territoriality. The qualitative and ethnographically inspired research was based on participant observation, narrative interviews, and records of daily fishing practices. The results show that women's know-how, expressed in their interpretation of the waters, use of artisanal techniques, and intergenerational transmission of knowledge, is a central element of the domestic economy and the reproduction of the riverside way of life. It is concluded that this knowledge, although invisible, plays a strategic role in the sustainable management of resources and in the construction of territories of female resistance in Supiá.
