This study is an integrative review aimed at clarifying the risks of cardiovascular diseases associated with the consumption of energy drinks. A search for scientific studies was conducted in the PubMed database using the following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): energy drink and cardiac impact. Energy drinks are rich in caffeine and other components and have evident cardiovascular effects, with the most common being inotropism and chronotropism. Their consumption may lead to serious cardiovascular diseases, such as acute coronary syndrome, sudden cardiac death, and spontaneous coronary artery thrombosis. The results show that caffeine, the main active component, acts as a psychoactive substance with potential for dependence and may cause adverse effects when consumed in excess, including cardiovascular alterations, sleep disorders, and anxiety.
