ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE FUTURE OF COOPERATIVISM: A NARRATIVE BIBLIOGRAPHIC REVIEW

Abstract

This study addresses the intersection between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cooperativism within the context of transformation. The central issue lies in how AI can strengthen and drive the evolution of cooperativism while preserving its fundamental principles, in contrast to hegemonic market models. The main objective of the research was to investigate the potential of AI in strengthening and advancing cooperativism, identifying applications, analyzing its relationship with cooperative principles, and discussing future perspectives. The methodology employed was a narrative literature review, qualitative in nature, descriptive, and exploratory. For content analysis of the selected materials, Bardin’s (2011) Content Analysis technique was applied, enabling the categorization and interpretation of textual data to identify patterns and recurring themes. The main results indicate that AI provides tools to optimize processes, improve decision-making, and strengthen self-management in cooperatives, provided its development and implementation follow ethical and responsible principles. The Digital Solidarity Economy (DSE), enhanced by AI, emerges as a paradigm that values collaboration and solidarity, countering “uberization” and promoting community control over data. The conclusions highlight the need for the ethical and responsible integration of AI into cooperativism, ensuring that technological benefits are distributed fairly and contribute to a more just and equitable future, with the construction of digital sovereignty grounded in solidarity.
