PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS AND COMPLAINTS OF PATIENTS UNDERGOING BLEPHAROPLASTY SURGERY: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure commonly performed to correct aesthetic or functional eyelid alterations. Despite the high technical success rate, many patients report dissatisfaction with the results, even when objectively satisfactory. This article proposes an interdisciplinary analysis, from the perspectives of Psychology and Ophthalmology, of the psychological aspects that influence the perception of the surgical outcome, considering unrealistic expectations, self-image distortions, and pre-existing psychological disorders. Understanding these variables is essential for adequate pre- and postoperative management.
