Abstract

This article discusses how the National High School Exam (ENEM) constitutes an important public policy for access to university education, as well as establishing itself as one of the main high school evaluation exams in Brazil. In this sense, this text aims to analyze the meanings produced by the statement "The persistence of violence against women in Brazilian society" in the essay test of the National High School Exam (ENEM) 2015. To this end, we propose the following questions: What meanings of violence against women do the texts motivating the essay enunciate? What meanings of violence against women are produced in a set of essays scored 1000 on the ENEM 2015? For this, the theoretical-methodological contributions of weak-Brazilian Discourse Analysis were used, especially from the studies of Michel Pêcheux and Eni Orlandi. Based on the analysis, it was possible to conclude that reflecting on violence against women in schools, a privileged environment for the development of individuals, can lead to the reconstruction of a network of meanings and memories, allowing this topic to be at the center of the national debate.
