Abstract

Objective: To map the recent literature on data reuse in nursing research and describe how information from previous studies has been reused in new investigations. Method: Integrative review with a systematic search of PubMed, Cinahl, PsycINFO, LILACS, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, and the Zenodo and Figshare repositories. This review was conducted in November 2024 and updated in April 2025 to ensure the inclusion of the most recent studies. After excluding duplicates, two independent reviewers screened titles, abstracts, and full texts. Results: A total of 845 records were identified; 841 remained after excluding duplicates; 178 were screened by title and abstract; 31 were read in full; only 4 directly discussed data reuse in nursing. The findings reveal low adherence to open science practices in the field, although they point to opportunities for methodological innovation, resource optimization, and increased scientific impact. Conclusion: Data reuse constitutes a promising strategy for strengthening nursing research, promoting evidence updating, and accelerating responses to health problems. Its advancement depends on the support of institutional policies and the consolidation of open data infrastructures.
