Abstract

This article, entitled "Organizational Studies and the Limits of American Democracy in Tocqueville," aims to analyze the limits of democracy in light of Alexis de Tocqueville's ideas, focusing on the risks of the "tyranny of the majority" and its implications for organizations. It is justified by the topic's contemporary relevance, especially in contexts of polarization and misinformation, which threaten diversity and decision-making effectiveness. Methodologically, a bibliographic study is adopted, reviewing classic works (such as Tocqueville's *Democracy in America*) and contemporary authors to articulate political theory and organizational management. The results highlight three critical axes: (1) the manipulation of the majority by external narratives; (2) the oppression of minorities; and (3) the tension between popular participation and technical expertise. The conclusion is that ideal democracy requires a balance between popular sovereignty and institutional protection mechanisms (such as independent courts and civic education), guaranteeing freedom, justice, and the common good without suppressing the voice of the ballot box. It therefore contributes to the interdisciplinary reflection on contemporary politics and administration.
