CONSUMO DE ESTATUS Y CONSUMO IMPULSIVO: UN ANÁLISIS COMPARATIVO ENTRE ESTUDIANTES DE INSTITUCIONES PÚBLICAS DE EDUCACIÓN

Resumen

Este estudio analiza comparativamente el consumo de estatus y el consumo impulsivo entre estudiantes de escuelas públicas, un grupo inserto en un contexto de vulnerabilidad socioeconómica y fuertemente expuesto al marketing digital. A partir de una revisión teórica sobre consumo juvenil, estatus, impulsividad y contexto socioeconómico, se desarrolló una investigación cuantitativa descriptiva, con muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Los datos se recolectaron mediante un cuestionario estructurado, compuesto por escalas validadas de consumo de estatus, consumo impulsivo, educación financiera y variables sociodemográficas. Los análisis incluyeron estadística descriptiva, pruebas de comparación entre grupos y modelos de regresión para identificar los factores asociados a cada tipo de comportamiento de consumo. Los resultados indican que el consumo de estatus presenta una fuerte relación con la búsqueda de pertenencia, reputación y reconocimiento entre pares, siendo más intenso entre jóvenes más expuestos a referencias de consumo en redes sociales. Por su parte, el consumo impulsivo se asoció con un menor planeamiento financiero, una mayor sensibilidad a estímulos promocionales y debilidades en la alfabetización financiera. Se observaron diferencias significativas entre subgrupos de estudiantes, lo que sugiere que el género, el grupo etario, el ingreso familiar y el tipo de curso influyen en los patrones de consumo. Se concluye que las políticas de educación financiera articuladas con intervenciones psicosociales pueden contribuir a mitigar comportamientos de consumo disfuncionales, promoviendo decisiones más conscientes y alineadas con el bienestar financiero de los jóvenes en escuelas públicas.
