DEFINICIONES Y CARACTERIZACIONES DE LOS SÍNTOMAS ANSIOGÉNICOS Y LA PRIVACIÓN DEL SUEÑO EN ESTUDIANTES DE MEDICINA PREUNIVERSITARIOS DEL SUR DE TOCANTINS, BRASIL

Resumen

Este estudio analizó los síntomas de ansiedad y los patrones de sueño en 163 estudiantes preuniversitarios que se preparaban para el ingreso a la carrera de Medicina en el sur del estado de Tocantins, Brasil. Se utilizaron el Inventario de Ansiedad de Beck (BAI), la Escala de Somnolencia Diurna de Epworth (ESS) y el Índice de Calidad del Sueño de Pittsburgh (PSQI) para evaluar la ansiedad, la somnolencia diurna y la calidad del sueño, respectivamente. La mayoría de los participantes informó dormir menos de seis horas por noche y presentó una alta propensión a la somnolencia en situaciones pasivas. Los niveles de ansiedad fueron elevados, con predominio de preocupaciones intensas, dificultad para relajarse y síntomas fisiológicos asociados. Se observó una asociación estadísticamente significativa entre los niveles de ansiedad y la somnolencia diurna, mientras que no se identificó una correlación significativa entre la ansiedad y la duración total del sueño. Estos hallazgos sugieren que, en el contexto preuniversitario, el malestar ansioso está más relacionado con las repercusiones funcionales del sueño que con su duración aislada, lo que refuerza la necesidad de estrategias de apoyo psicológico, promoción de la higiene del sueño y manejo del estrés para mejorar la salud mental y el rendimiento académico de esta población.
