Abstract

This article is the result of a teaching proposal on the theme of Water. Planned to be implemented with a 4th-grade class in Elementary School I at the Municipal School Professor Zélia Braz, its objective is to provide students with an experience of awareness about the importance of water in our lives, while highlighting the role of students as critical and active subjects in the process of environmental preservation, offering them, through various pedagogical experiences, the opportunity to learn knowledge so that they can discover all the richness of water in the environment. Therefore, this proposal highlights the importance of conscious discussions about water from early childhood education to adulthood, providing students with readings to develop critical and sensitive readers. The relevance of this theme as a basis for Environmental Education should be emphasized in the classroom, because in order to form critical and active citizens in the preservation of nature, capable of creating and proposing sustainable solutions, it is essential to cultivate the habit of study discussions throughout the educational process, always seeking to raise awareness in the school environment from early childhood education to adulthood. Our theoretical basis will be Saito (2002), Guimarães (2006), Vasconcellos (2006), Leff (2001), LDB (1996), and PCN (1997).
