Abstract

The textile industry has evolved in response to increasing demands for technological innovation and sustainability, with nanotechnology and the valorization of agro-industrial residues standing out as promising strategies. In this context, this article presents a literature review on the application of lignin and, especially, nanolignin in the textile sector, focusing on studies published over the past five years. The methodology was based on the survey and critical analysis of academic works available on scientific journal platforms, which were systematized comparatively. The results show that although lignin has been widely studied in different fields, its application in the form of nanoparticles in textile materials remains underexplored, representing a significant gap in the literature. However, the analyzed studies indicate the potential of nanolignin to impart functional properties to textiles, such as UV protection, antioxidant activity, and possible antimicrobial effects, in addition to contributing to the reduction of synthetic fossil-based raw materials. It is concluded that nanolignin represents a promising alternative for sustainable textile solutions.
