MONITORING IN THE SURGICAL CENTER: STUDENT INTERFACES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO TRAINING

Objective: To report the experiences gained during the tutoring of the Surgical Center and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) discipline, highlighting the interfaces and contributions to academic and professional training. Methods: This is an experience report from nursing students at the State University of Pará who acted as tutors for the discipline, targeting students in the 5th semester of the aforementioned course and institution, who were in the process of consolidating theoretical and practical knowledge about the surgical area. Activities included guidance, clarification of doubts, and educational dynamics, focusing on learning and preparation for internships in a hospital setting. Results: The tutoring experiences provided the 5th-semester students with theoretical and practical support to act during the perioperative phases. The theoretical and practical actions addressed essential techniques such as hand degerming, surgical gowning and instrumentation, surgical positioning, and inherent nursing care, highlighting the importance of patient safety and the prevention of infections and complications in the surgical context. Conclusion: Tutoring proved to be an educational practice that goes beyond reinforcing content, configuring itself as a space whose interfaces provide opportunities for the exchange of experiences and knowledge, mutual learning, and preparation for the challenges of professional practice in the health and nursing area.
