EL TRABAJO INFANTIL DESDE UNA PERSPECTIVA DE GÉNERO EN LA LITERATURA INTERNACIONAL: UNA REVISIÓN EXPLORATORIA

El trabajo infantil es un problema global que involucra a niños, niñas y adolescentes en actividades laborales por debajo de la edad mínima legal establecida en cada país, lo que constituye una violación de derechos fundamentales y compromete su desarrollo integral. A nivel mundial, se estima que 152 millones de niños y niñas se encuentran en esta situación, incluidos 64 millones de niñas y 88 millones de niños. La pandemia de la COVID-19 puso de manifiesto brechas en los sistemas de protección infantil a nivel global y evidenció la necesidad urgente de estrategias para la erradicación del trabajo infantil. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la literatura nacional e internacional sobre el trabajo infantil y las diferencias de género a partir de la pandemia de la COVID-19. Se realizó una revisión de alcance mediante una búsqueda sistemática en cuatro bases de datos: Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS), Scopus, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) y PubMed, utilizando los descriptores “child labor”, “early work”, “gender” y “gender identity”, en el período de 2020 a 2024. Se identificaron un total de 335 artículos, de los cuales, tras el proceso de selección conforme a las directrices del Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), se incluyeron 18 estudios. La producción científica se concentró mayoritariamente en el continente asiático, seguida por África, América y Europa. Los resultados indican la persistencia de una división sexual del trabajo infantil, con predominio de niñas en actividades domésticas y niños en trabajos realizados en espacios públicos, además de evidenciar vacíos en la literatura respecto a enfoques interseccionales que integren género, raza, etnia y clase social, sustentados en una perspectiva crítica y de derechos humanos.
