Abstract

This paper briefly discusses, using the cartography method, a literary-musical mediation of the work Onda (Lee, 2017), applied to five-year-old children at the CEI children's library they attend. The proposed experience aimed to understand the potential of an integrated work between literature and music to promote in the subjects, through aesthetic experience, the possibility of having an experience (Heidegger, 2015) with a view to improving emotional health (Bruscia, 2016) and developing aesthetic education (Schiller, 2002). Based on the authors' individual experiences, with literary mediation on one side and musical mediation — teaching and music therapy — on the other, the work proposed an experience in the following sequence: 1. the children sat comfortably in the baby library; 2. with their eyes covered, they listened to the sound introduction, prepared by the mediators based on the book Onda, using various musical instruments; 3. when they opened their eyes, the children silently read the work, a purely imagistic book, while listening to and watching sound/musical interventions performed by the mediators; 4. through the practice of questioning (Hentchen, 2025), they explored the possible meanings of the work in an exercise of unveiling the symbolic. It has been confirmed that the combination of literature and music in mediation provides an experience and benefits those being mediated by promoting the interplay between the sensitive and the intelligible that constitute their human integrity.
